Clinic/Ball Descriptions

RED BALL- Boys and girls ages 4-7.  Using smaller racquets, shorter nets, and a "red ball" that moves slower and bounces lower. Your child will learn the strokes including forehand, backhand, serves, volleys and overheads, parts of the racquet and dimensions of the court, with a strong emphasis on hand eye coordination and child friendly athletic development.

ADVANCED RED BALL- This clinic is for children ages 8 and under who have learned their basic grownstrokes and plan to compete on Kanawha’s 8U JTT (Junior Team Tennis) team. Kids in this clinic have taken at least one season of red ball and have begun rallying with the red ball. Don’t need to sign up for the team to attend advanced red clinic.

ORANGE BALL- Boys and girls ages 8-10. This ball is a step up in difficulty from the larger, softer Red Ball.  Children will begin to rally, learn scoring, and begin match play in preparation for youth match play.

GREEN DOT- 12 & Under Beginner This class is meant for kids ages 10-12 and Under who are beginning tennis or who have not yet started rallying. The green dot ball is one step under the classic yellow tennis ball, and is slightly more manageable.

14u JTT/Middle School Clinic This clinic is designed for kids in middle school playing at the intermediate level. The clinic will focus on stroke production, consistency, point play in preparation for matches and/or USTA tournaments.

18u JTT/Intermediate Clinic- A clinic for girls and boys who are interested in continuing to play tennis at a higher level and/or for kids playing on the 18U Intermediate/JTT Team or their high school school/middle school team.
