General KRA Tennis Information
Scott Mitchell brings over 20 years of tennis experience to the Director of Tennis Position at Kanawha Recreation Association. Scott comes to Kanawha from The Country Club of Virginia where he has been employed since 1995. He served in a variety of roles including assistant tennis professional, junior coordinator, to his most recent position of Head Tennis Professional. Scott is a USPTA Elite Level certified tennis professional with extensive experience coaching men’s and women’s USTA and Suburban League Teams as well as recreational and high performance juniors.
Scott and his wife Mary Stewart live in Henrico County with their three daughters Kate, Ellis, and Reed. They enjoy spending time outdoors, bike riding, skiing, and going to the beach with family and friends.
Monica enters her 2nd year here at KRA as the Associate Head Pro. Monica currently is also the Assistant Tennis Coach at Randolph Macon College where she oversees the women’s program. Monica has been a high level coach at both the college and club level, with stops at VCU, IPFW, UCONN, and the Stamford Yacht Club. Monica played collegiately at Oklahoma and also earned her Masters degree at IPFW. Monica and her husband, Steve welcomed their first child, Nico, in March.
Leslie grew up playing tennis in South Florida, and was one of the highest ranked players in Florida throughout her junior career. She went on to play collegiate tennis at UVA, where she received a full scholarship. She and her partner were ranked as high as #1 in the ACC. After earning an undergraduate degree in psychology, and a master degree in education, she went on to teach elementary school for 9 years. She continues to play competitive tennis in the Richmond area, and is currently rated as 5.0.

1 Person - $50
2 People - $26 per person
3 People - $20 per person
4 People - $18 per person
1 Person - $75
2 People - $40 per person
3 People - $28 per person
4 People - $22 per person
Clinics (5 or more people)
1 hour - $16 per person
1.5 hours - $20 per person
The fee for lessons with Del Moser is $36 per hour for individuals or groups of no more than 6. Groups of 2-6 players split the $36 fee. For example, each person in a group of 4 would pay $9 for a 1-hour lesson.
Policy for Non-KRA Members on KRA Tennis Teams
Effective 2018 any non KRA member playing on a KRA team will be required to pay a $25 non member guest fee. This will cover all home matches and any practice matches during that team's season. It is the captain's responsibility to collect the fee and submit to Martha. (All teams playing out of KRA must be captained by a KRA member)
During pool season any non member playing social tennis should pay the daily guest fee of $5 at the pool sign in gate. Guests are required to be playing with a member and are limited to one visit per week.
Non members will also be assessed a $5 fee for lessons and clinics
As a KRA member, as long as your membership is current, you may have keys to the tennis courts, bathrooms and lights for a total of $12. You can play YEAR ROUND! Contact Martha Hodges by calling the pool office or by email to arrange to purchase the keys . firstname.lastname@example.org - 288-4421
KRA members sign-up for courts by using the ‘court reservations’ link at left. Choose date, time, and court preference on the system.
You may reserve a court for up to 2 hours.
If a court is already reserved you must select another court or day.
You can schedule up to two weeks in advance.
You can reserve only one court once per day.
You need to put your name and contact information on the notes screen, so we can contact you if reservation has to be changed.
Your court must be claimed within 10 minutes of the reservation starting time or it may be claimed by another party.
The tennis committee can change court reservation times if needed, so check before you go to the courts.
